Jyväskylä Innovation Oy (established in summer 2006, previously Jyväskylä Science Park) manages and coordinates extensive development programmes that aim to provide industry development services. Energy technology, especially bioenergy, is one branch of expertise. Within the energy technology sector, the business activities of SME companies are being strengthened by creating new research and product development environments to serve the business community, by commercializing existing research know-how, and by initiating cooperation between companies and research institutes in order to support commercial product development related to the energy markets.

VTT is an impartial, internationally respected and networked research centre, administered by the Ministry of Trade and Industry. VTT is a governmental contract research organisation with a turnover of 230 million € and a staff of 3000. VTT’s major clients and co-operation partners are industrial and other companies and businesses, universities and research institutes. VTT’s new Research and Development function is responsible for the production, development, international competitiveness and efficiency of VTT’s R&D services. The R&D function comprises seven knowledge clusters and 45 knowledge centres. The Energy and Pulp & Paper cluster focuses on R&D and demonstration services for energy and forest sectors aiming to develop efficient and environmentally sound energy and process technologies. The cluster has a staff of 400. VTT has more than 120 experts working with bioenergy. Turnover of biomass related R&D is 15 M€.

The Institute of Natural Resources provides Bachelor of Agriculture and Forestry degree education in Saarijärvi and participates actively in the development of rural areas both in and outside Central Finland.

Set up in 1983, Biomasse Normandie is an association of which the governing board is made up of regional council, ADEME, government services, consular Chambers, trade organizations and associations. Its statutory object is: "lead research and development, support and advice, concerning agronomic and energy valorisation of biomass, energy saving and use of renewable fuels, particularly in agriculture and in rural areas". Biomasse Normandie intervenes in two areas of activity: reusing organic waste for agronomy and energy, and developing renewable fuels, in particular wood fuel, in medium and high capacity collective heating plants.

ESCAN S.A. is a Spanish Engineering consulting dedicated since 1986 to energy consulting services and features an uninterrupted tradition of services for the Commission for the last 15 years. Among its various activities, ESCAN S.A. is able to carry out data analysis, database design, collaborate in the writing of studies and documents, contribute to proposing the most appropriate methods for the energy utilisation of wastes, and develop market studies and business plans for the potential projects of production and / or recycling of wastes (thermal recuperation, cogeneration, etc.).  ESCAN S.A. is a specialist on the establishment of negotiated / long-term agreements on bio fuels with farmers, foresters, and industry.
